What Owners See, and What They Don’t
Animal Mash uses private updates to show owners that their animal has eaten, settled, rested and been checked. It is not a public pet channel, and Mara will not turn a nervous animal into content.

Update schedule
The Normal Rhythm
Two boarding updates are included: the morning settled-in note and the evening boarding note. The 15:30 photo or clip is sent when useful, or for daycare and trials where agreed.
Morning settled-in note
The first included boarding update arrives after the busy arrival period. It may be short if everything is ordinary, which is usually good news.
Afternoon photo or clip
Sent when useful, or for daycare and trials where agreed, when the animal is comfortable and the image will reassure rather than disturb.
Evening boarding note
The second included boarding update covers the bedtime check, food, toileting, mood and any useful detail for the owner.
Private webcam add-on
Sleeping-Area Camera Windows
The webcam add-on is £3 per night when available. It covers suitable sleeping areas only, never a shared public group livestream. Links are private, time-limited and expire after the stay. There is no audio recording.
Camera availability depends on the room, the animal and whether another client’s animal could be identified. If the right room is not free, Mara will say so before adding the charge.
Mara’s update philosophy
One Calm Note Beats Ten Excitable Ones
I know it is strange to leave an animal and drive away with an empty back seat, so I do not treat updates as an afterthought. I also do not think constant pings help most animals settle. If I walk in every twenty minutes with a phone voice and a camera hand, the dog who had just gone to sleep wakes up, the cat who had just come out goes back behind the shelf, and the guinea pigs learn that every check means being fussed with. I would rather send one useful calm note that says what your animal ate, where they chose to rest, how they handled the yard and whether anything needs watching, than ten excitable messages that mainly prove I can type. If there is a worry, I will tell you plainly. If the best news is boring, I will let boring be good.
Privacy and safety
Camera Rules Are Part of the Care
- No shared livestreams
Group daycare and shared spaces are not broadcast to owners.
- No identifiable strangers
Updates avoid showing other clients’ animals in identifiable ways.
- No audio
The webcam add-on does not record audio.
- No public posting
Animal Mash does not post client animals publicly without permission.
- Expiring links
Private links close after the stay so the room does not become a permanent window.
Troubleshooting footnotes
1 Patchy Wi-Fi can delay a still frame. The animal check still happens even if the upload waits.
2 Nervous new dogs may receive a written update before a photograph, because a calm dog is more important than proof of a calm dog.
3 Cats who hide on day one are common. Eating, toileting and quiet observation matter more than coaxing them out for a picture.
4 Small animals are checked for food, water, droppings and posture without being handled every time.
